John Schneider’s Five Year Divorce Battle is Finally Over

Actor and country music chart-topper John Schneider’s 5 year divorce battle is finally over. Earlier today, a Louisiana judge took jurisdiction over the unresolved California case that had yet to be signed, even though it was reported in August that the divorce had been granted with awarded property and alimony. The Louisiana judge granted, signed and filed the divorce this morning at the Livingston Parish District Courthouse near Schneider's home and studio complex in Holden, Louisiana.

“I am pleased to announce that after nearly 5 years, this bitter and unnecessary battle is finally really over,” says Schneider. "So proud to call Louisiana my home!”

Schneider wed longtime girlfriend and movie producer Alicia Allain in July, in a private ceremony held inside a converted barn at John Schneider Studios. Exclusive wedding coverage was granted to PEOPLE.com and Inside Edition. The couple decided to move forward with their nuptials after discussions with their pastor, despite the fact that Schneider remained embattled in the ongoing divorce first filed in 2014. The newlyweds exchanged their vows “before God” and intend to make their marriage legal now that the California legal system has allowed for the divorce to be finalized.

Schneider is currently touring in support of the southern rock inspired Redneck Rebel released earlier this year, and the inspirational album, Recycling Grace, will be available everywhere on September 15th. Schneider is also in post-production on his upcoming holiday film, Christmas Cars, which he wrote, directed and stars in.

ABOUT JOHN SCHNEIDER: John Schneider’s extensive acting career includes the iconic roles of "Bo Duke" on The Dukes of Hazzard, “Jonathan Kent” on Smallville and "Jim Cryer" on his current OWN series, Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots — the #1 primetime series on cable on Tuesday nights. Add in countless films and guest appearances, and a recent stint on Dancing with the Stars, and it’s no wonder that Schneider is an American icon. Schneider is also a celebrated country music artist with 4 #1 singles on the Billboard Country chart. Schneider co-founded the Children's Miracle Network in 1983. To date, they have raised more than $7 billion dollars (with over $409 million in 2018 alone) for medical research and community  awareness of children's health issues, which is distributed directly to a network of 170 children’s hospitals.
