John Schneider to Celebrate Independence Day with Patriotic Event at the Historic Select Theater in Mineola, Texas
Actor, filmmaker and Country music chart-topper John Schneider will celebrate Independence Day with fans at the Historic Select Theater, located at 114 North Johnson Street in Mineola, Texas. The Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville star will host a screening of his patriotic film, To Die For, and perform a live concert filled with new music from his upcoming album Made In America as well as his biggest hits.
Schneider wrote, directed and stars in To Die For, which takes a stand for patriotism and the American flag. The powerful and gripping drama takes on the feel of a Clint Eastwood film, with Schneider front and center for one of the most impassioned performances of his career. NEWSMAX called the movie “the most patriotic film of 2022."
In To Die For, Schneider plays reclusive veteran Quint North, who is frustrated by the liberal left and what he deems the destruction of the country he risked his life for. He is ordered by the court to keep his distance from the local high school with the American flag on the back of his El Camino or face a fine and jail time. In an ultimate exhibition of patriotism, he sets forth a series of events that just may get him killed in his own front yard.
“We made this movie with a crew of under 10 people over a 10 month period because we had to,” says Schneider. "The madness has gotten to the point where something must be done. All great movements and reclamations begin with a single thought and a God-given means of expression. This is mine."
The film features a score by Larry Hall, and opens with the stunning new song, "That's Why We Stand" by Country Music superstar Billy Dean.
"This movie is intensely patriotic,” says Schneider unapoligetically. “When the Historic Select Theater proposed a July 4th event and a screening of To Die For to celebrate this great nation of ours, we said yes immediately."

About the Historic Select Theater: As one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in Texas, the Historic Select Theater located at 114 N. Johnson St. is a true Texas (and Mineola) treasure. Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Hooks opened the Theater as a movie house in 1920, and the building retains much of its historical style and ambiance today. In 1978, a group of actors determined to bring live theater to the Lake Country area formed the Lake Country Playhouse. They purchased the theater in 1993, ensuring that Mineola would continue to have a movie theater and a venue for live theatrical and musical productions. The playhouse produces four live plays each year, one in each season, and shows first run movies each weekend. Patrons especially love the summer musicals and popular Christmas shows. The theater is also home to the Lake Country Symphonic Band (formally the Wood County Orchestra), which presents four scheduled performances during the year. Lake Country Playhouse is a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. All donations to Lake Country Playhouse are deductible. The mission of Lake Country Playhouse is to promote the Arts in East Texas, and to provide a home for performing arts at its facility, the Historic Select Theater. Additionally, Lake Country Playhouse will maintain and operate the Select Theater as a historical treasure by continuing to show motion pictures in the longest continuous-operating movie theater in Texas.
