Her 2013 book, Sweet Grace: How I Lost 250 Pounds, is still the #1 Christian weight loss memoir on Amazon, but Sweet Journey to Transformation is second. The new book is a step-by-step guide to spiritual transformation, emotional healing and sustainable weight loss.
After having a life-changing physical, emotional, mental and spiritual transformation, Parker set out to dissect her journey by dividing it into five distinct stages. These stages contain the keys to stop dieting and start changing with the power of God.
“I was a very good dieter,” Parker says. “I weighed 430 pounds so I could lose 100 pounds easily by starving myself on 1,000 calories a day, but I was always looking forward to when I could go back and eating breads and desserts.”
When she would begin eating sugar and comfort foods again, she’d gain the weight back plus more. It was an endless cycle, which resulted in a doctor giving her five years to live unless she lost weight.
After that, Parker began to search for a way to lose the weight and keep it off. Then God led her to a meeting where she heard a former alcoholic say, “Alcohol is one molecule away from sugar. Alcohol is liquid sugar.” That day God connected the dots that she was like an alcoholic only with sugar.
“It was my moment of total surrender,” she says. “It was the time I told Jesus that I would do whatever it took to lay down sugar and comfort foods for the rest of my life and follow Him with no holds barred.”
Sweet Journey to Transformation includes examples from Parker’s life combined with questions for readers to follow and action steps to guide them to their own transformation. It is the how-to-lose-weight book that readers have asked her to write.
It’s already affecting readers. One woman who has read all of her books wrote, “God has touched my heart through Teresa’s writing at an entirely new level. After reading Sweet Journey to Transformation, I became honest with God and myself. I lost 30 pounds and started exercising. The transformation in my life has been noticed by friends, family and co-workers.”
Sweet Journey to Transformation is published by Write the Vision, and is available now at Amazon.com in both print and Kindle editions.
